Richard F. Hickman
“Even after 27 years on the Lovejoy board, I still have a passion to ensure that all the children in this district receive a high-quality education and a positive learning experience. My long history in Lovejoy provides invaluable insight and understanding about this community’s wishes and goals.” —Rich Hickman Richard Hickman is president of the Lovejoy Board of Trustees and its most experienced member. He has earned certification as a “Master School Board Trustee” through a statewide program known as Leadership TASB, an advanced educational and networking program that prepares board members to be effective leaders, communicators, and advocates. Rich joined the Lovejoy board in 1981. He has led the district through many changes: the expansion of Lovejoy and Hart Elementary Schools, the introduction of statewide testing and school ratings, the community vote to expand from a K-6 to a K-12 district and the construction of the Lovejoy secondary schools. He says, “I’m proud to have helped build and maintain Lovejoy as an ‘Exemplary’ district, and proud that we’ve been able to preserve Lovejoy’s uniqueness during its rapid growth.” In addition to his service on the school board, Rich has volunteered in many different roles for the local 4H organization since 1991. He has also put in more than 25 years of service as a basketball official for Special Olympics. A banker since 1973, Rich is currently a Senior Vice President in the Global Treasury Management division at Bank of America. He holds both a BS in business and finance and an MBA from Louisiana State University, where he lettered in basketball for three years. Rich and his wife, Carla, have lived in the Lovejoy district for 31 years. Carla is also involved with public education, working as a Special Education Assessment Specialist for Plano ISD. They have three grown daughters, all graduates of Lovejoy and Allen ISD, and five grandchildren. Why re-elect Rich Hickman?![]() |
